Trent University

Due to COVID-19, classes are not currently offered at Trent University. Trent students are welcome to train at the Peterborough Jiu Jitsu Club instead.

The Trent University Jiu Jitsu Club was established in 1993, and has been a fixture of both the Trent community, and of Peterborough’s martial arts community, ever since. Training at our club is inclusive to both Trent students and Trent community members. The club runs September through April each year. New members, including complete beginners, are always welcome, and your first week is free to try.

Click on the link below to order from our supplier, and the club receives a commission as part of Hatashita's COVID-19 relief program.

Instructor

Matt Susac first began training in martial arts in 2005 with Shorin-Ryu Karate, where he learned a basic understanding of striking and self-defence. In 2009, under Andy Dobie Sensei, Matt began his training in jiu jitsu at the Peterborough YMCA club, while also frequenting the Toronto club and the York University club. During Matt’s time at York University under Jennifer Higgs Sensei, he acted as an assistant instructor. Matt acknowledges the guidance and inspiration of Jon Jamnik Sensei along his path in jiu jitsu.

He now primarily trains at the Peterborough Jiu Jitsu Club, and since 2013, Matt has been the deputy instructor at the Trent University club. He moved on to become Club Instructor of the Peterborough YMCA, and as of September 2016, has returned to Trent as Club Instructor.
